Why did GFAB create a GoFundMe?
GFAB Inc. has only recently become a formally registered incorporated association. At this early stage, we have limited funds available, which are not enough to cover the essential setup and operational requirements needed to run our first official season as an incorporated organisation.
This GoFundMe helps us meet the basic startup costs required to operate GFAB properly, safely, and in line with our legal and governance obligations.
Was this approved?
Yes. The decision to create this GoFundMe was formally approved by six committee members of GFAB Inc.
Why don’t we just ask the players to donate?
Players are welcome to donate if they choose to, but there is absolutely no expectation or pressure to do so.
When registrations for Season 5 open, a small admin fee/levy will be included to help cover ongoing organisational costs. This fundraiser is simply helping us get started as a newly incorporated association.
Where does the money go?
Funds raised will support GFAB’s essential operational and volunteer‑support costs. A breakdown of these costs is available on our Financial Transparency page.
Does the money go to a personal account?
No. All funds go directly into the official GFAB Inc. organisational bank account.
Is this fundraiser for Season 5?
No. Season 5 player fees and costs will be managed and reported separately. This fundraiser supports current operational setup costs only.

Definitions
Committee Members
The committee is responsible for running and managing GFAB Inc. This includes governance, compliance, finances, policies, planning, and decision‑making. Committee members are the only voting members of GFAB Inc. under our incorporated structure.
Players (Casual Sessions)
These are participants who join our casual weekly basketball sessions. Their player fees cover court hire only, not organisational or administrative costs.
GFAB Players (Season 5 Players)
These are players who will register for Season 5 — GFAB’s first official league season as an incorporated association. Season 5 players will be registered as official players, not voting members. They will pay a small admin fee/levy to help cover ongoing organisational costs.
GoFundMe
GoFundMe is an online fundraising platform used by individuals, community groups, and sporting organisations to raise money for specific needs. GFAB is using GoFundMe to support our initial operational, compliance, and volunteer‑support costs as we prepare for our first official season as an incorporated association.
Please be noted:
GFAB Inc. is a not‑for‑profit incorporated association.
We are not a charity, and donations to GFAB Inc. are not tax‑deductible.
Use of Funds
Funds will be used for the purposes described above. However, GFAB Inc. may allocate funds as reasonably required to support essential operational needs in line with our governance obligations.
